Fergus has started taking his late-night feeding from a bottle offered by his dada. We use the Evenflo Classic glass bottle in the four ounce size. It’s economical, it’s safe, and it’s compatible with both my Medela electric pump and my Lansinoh manual pump.
The advantage of glass bottles is that they don’t contain any potentially harmful chemicals. The same cannot be said of plastic bottles, even those that are BPA-free. The effects of the chemicals that substitute for BPA have not been adequately studied.
Amazon offers a six-pack of bottles for $10.59.
(I knocked a bottle off the counter this morning. It didn’t break, but I think I might invest in a silicone “Cozy” that insulates and protects the bottle.)

I'm a writer and the mother of William and Fergus. Before dedicating my work to children's environmental health, I earned an MA in Cultural Reporting and Criticism from New York University and was a photography editor at The New Yorker. My family is preparing to move to New Orleans, where my husband, an architect, is building us a non-toxic home.
