I’d like to confess that bath toys gross me out. Even the safe toys — those made without PVC, phthalates, BPA, and other harmful chemicals — get moldy and stinky. I got rid of all but one of our bath toys when something slimy leaked from the squeaky duck. Ick.
(The lone survivor is this tugboat by Green Toys. It’s made from recycled milk bottles. It drains and dries well every night.)
Until recently, Darling Fergus and Sweet William have been content to play with wash cloths and unbreakable cups. Then Fergus discovered he could drink from the spout. Now all he wants to do is stand under the flow, lapping and sputtering. Every time I sit him down, he pulls himself back up.
After he banged his nose and bruised his cheek, I installed Skip Hop’s bath spout cover in the shape of a whale. It’s free of PVC, phthalates, and BPA — and it can be easily washed.
