Life After Sippy Cups

When packing our bags the night before vacation, I discovered small tears in the silicone spouts of our Pura Kiki sippy bottles, undoubtedly caused by Sweet William gnawing on them.  This seemed like a good time to abandon the sippy, so we left home without it and hoped for the best.

Upon arriving in Miami, we hit a Whole Foods for healthy snacks.  That’s were I made the impulse purchase of a Lifefactory bottle.

What a find! The opening, a little more than an inch across, is small enough for William to take controlled sips. It’s a glass bottle, so I don’t worry about toxins, and the cap is polypropylene, which is not known to leach cancer-causing or endocrine-disrupting chemicals.

We successfully tested the silicone sleeve’s protective capacity when William knocked the bottle off a table onto a tile floor. The bottle bounced and came to rest intact.  Whew.

This is great! I’ve been looking for a non-sippy cup drinking bottle for Will. I try to let him use regular glasses but real glass can easily break, even when dropped a short distance onto a hard table. I’ll give these a try.
