Play Dough

I came across this recipe for play dough on the website of Peapods, a St. Paul store that carries natural toys and baby products.

Combine in a small pot:

1 cup flour

1/4 cup salt

2 tbsp cream of tartar

1 cup water

1 tbsp vegetable oil

Stir until combined, then (if desired) add:

20-30 drops food coloring

Cook over medium heat for about 4 minutes, stirring constantly. When dough thickens and pulls into a ball, turn it out onto a cool surface. Knead it when it’s cool enough to touch.

Store in the refrigerator in a sealed container.
