Chlorine is a potent irritant to the eyes, the respiratory tract, and the lungs. It’s also extremely irritating to the skin.
Workers in the paper industry are subject to both acute and chronic effects of exposure. Where there’s an alternative, I’d rather not support a process that risks someone’s health. Hydrogen peroxide is a safer way to whiten and is also less damaging to the environment.
